Omega President Frank Brasel with some of the OPO Board Members. The national board makes all major decisions regarding policy and actual ministry. A literacy class in progress in a typical tribal "classroom." Fully air-conditioned, pollution free (except for the scent of wet tropical foliage), and with live sound effects (roosters, kids playing, pigs grunting, etc). In such surroundings, the people learn to read, and are soon using the Bible as their textbook - for the majority of them, their first exposure to God's Word! |

Here's a class in another location. The literacy classes usually have students of all ages, and both men and women, in them. When they learn how to read the labels on things they are buying, and how to read directions and instructions, it helps them in every area of life! Sometimes, local merchants have opposed the teaching of arithmetic to tribals, because it makes it much harder to cheat them! |
